Reading Buddies

During the Canadian school year, the Leacock Foundation facilitate a Reading Buddies program with one of our Toronto partner schools, Rose Avenue Junior Public School. High school students from Branksome Hall are paired with Grade 2 or 3 students and meet in a school library once per week after school to read and play co-operative games together.

Reading Buddies creates a sense of community and children enrich their reading skills while building meaningful relationships with school mentors. The children read with their buddies, practice good reading strategies and develop an enthusiasm for reading.

Reading Buddies Areas of Focus:

Peer support, mentorship, literacy, leadership, volunteerism, and communication.
