Leap Into Literacy: Three Weeks Down, One to Go!

Written by: Alex Whang

Alex is a Grade 12 student and Leap Into Literacy’s official social media intern for summer 2015.  A previous volunteer at the Branksome Hall/Rose Avenue campus for two years, she is excited to be taking on this new role.

After three weeks of Leap camp, it’s hard to believe we have only one week left. As we head in to our final week of Leap Into Literacy 2015, it’s clear the staff and students have learned, laughed, had fun, and made many lasting friendships.

This week (similar to every week at Leap) was filled with activities and excitement. Some highlights of this week included: Red and White Day at Woburn (to celebrate Canadian athletes in the Pan Am Games), a trip to the zoo for Rose Avenue students, and the always enjoyable visit to Havergal College for Derrydown campers. It’s always a pleasure witnessing the enthusiasm campers have towards trying new things and going new places. Each student approaches field trips with positivity and eagerness- something that’s truly inspiring!

But, have you ever wondered what a day at Leap Into Literacy is really like? With so many exciting events and activities every day, daily life of a Leap camper is eventful to say the least. Below is a “virtual tour” of a day in the life of a Leap camper and gives you an in depth look into what camp is really like. Click the link below to check out the tour!

Our last and final week of Leap camp is filled with lots of exciting events. Our biggest event next week is the end of camp celebration at Kortright Conservation Centre for our very own Leap style Pan Am Games. Students and faculty from all three campuses will come together on Monday and Wednesday for a day of fun, activity, and even some friendly competition.

Check our blog again next Tuesday and Friday for the final two Leap Into Literacy blogs of the month. Stay tuned and have a great weekend!
