“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. – Nelson Mandela

The Get Ahead Project and College is a registered low-fee independent school offering quality education from Grade 0 to Grade 12 in Queenstown and Whittlesea, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Across its three campuses consisting of two primary schools and one high school, over 1,400 learners receive an affordable education.

In partnership with the Get Ahead Project (GAP) Schools, the Leacock Foundation offers a Student Sponsorship Program which currently supports 50 students and their families across all 3 GAP school campuses. This program enables students from families with challenging financial circumstances to acquire the same quality education as their peers.

After undergoing an application process, students approved for sponsorship are matched with a Canadian sponsor through the Leacock Foundation. Once matched, the sponsor receives updates throughout the academic year including term report cards, letters and photos.

A student sponsorship donation directly covers school fees and other related costs such as books and a tablet for a student for one academic year. Sponsorship levels are as follows:

Full Sponsorship

Reception to Grade 6………………………………. $ 1,200 CAD / year

Grade 7 to 8 ……………………………………………. $ 1,400 CAD / year

Grade 9 to 12 ………………………………………….. $ 1,800 CAD / year

Partial Sponsorship

Reception to Grade 6……………………………… $ 600 CAD / year

Grade 7 to 8 …………………………………………… $ 700 CAD / year

Grade 9 to 12 …………………………………………. $ 800 CAD / year

*Please note student sponsorship donation amounts are listed in Canadian dollar currency

Give the gift of education – sponsor a student’s education today

From the principals at Get Ahead Project Schools on the Sponsorship Program:

“The most heart-rending part of our job is to witness a distressed, tearful parent/guardian who needs to remove their child from the school because they cannot afford the fees! It is an incredible relief to be able to ‘turn their faces’ to ‘a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel’ – to be able to reassure them that there is hope and that some good, generous person may be prepared to sponsor the child. I thank you and your sponsors again for this gracious gift of education to our disadvantaged learners. We are fully aware of the sacrifices, time and effort, but know that you will reap the rewards!!”
