My Life at Get Ahead by Alizwa Mhlauli

As you already know, I’m Alizwa Mhauli and I am in grade 9 at the Get Ahead College Institution and I have 3 more siblings named Hlumisa, Onwaba, and my twin brother Azola. But there’s more than what meets the eye about my life.

As a child, I grew up in the South Africa’s rural areas at Cotimyaba in a tiny village called Matafeni with my siblings and parents. when I was 5 years old, I started kindergarten for 2 years, but in the year 2007 my life changed for the best. my parents decided to send my siblings and I to Get Ahead- where Onwaba had already been studying. I started the first grade with my twin brother in two different classes.

In the 2nd grade, I worked relentlessly and committed myself to my studies and then at the end of the year, my hard work paid off. I achieved Top Learner and Book Reader, reading almost 25 books and now I’m in the 9th grade and I have become an even more achieving students. When I leave school I would like to study at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) or study overseas make in New York University (NYU). I want to specialize in either Particle, Theoretical, or Astro Physics and law.

I am also writing a book on my own and I’m even getting involved in the Ducere Foundation, which is based in Australia but provides books for children in Botswana.

And so in ending, I might just say even though I see my parents only on holidays, I think I am getting better at what I do and I also happen to think that Get Ahead has opened a lot of doors for me- as a person who loves reading and writing books, and I hope that this school will keep doing the same things that it did for me, to other children for many years to come.
